World Conference Cuba 2024

Color Cubano Conference and World Conference Cuba 2024: International Decade for People of African Descent – Equality – Equity – Social Justice.

With former Congresswoman, now Mayor of Oakland, Barbara Lee, in attendance, the conference was held in response to the United Nations General Assembly’s Resolution 68/237 which was adopted in 2013: Proclamation of the International Decade for People of African Descent (A/RES/68/237) convening the World Conference against Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance.

The conference provided immeasurable information and global solidarity which was attended by 103 delegates from 137 countries including: Cuba, Panama, Barbados, Togo, Benin, Jamaica, Senegal, Guinea Bissau, Angola, Comoros, Ghana, Kenya, Spain, Finland, Laos, Syria, Sri Lanka, Antigua and Barbuda, Belize, Brazil, Canada, Columbia, Costa Rica, Comoros, Somalia, Argentina, Nigeria, Camaroon, Washington, DC, Georgia, California, New York, Kentucky, Virginia.

On December 17, 2024, just 4 days after this year’s conference, the United Nations Human Rights Chief, Volker Turk, welcomed the conference delegates' proclamation of the SECOND INTERNATIONAL DECADE for People of African Descent by the UN General Assembly. The NEW decade of action starting in January 2025, will build on the progress of the past 10 years to advance the human rights of the diaspora worldwide. "Racial justice demands collective action," Mr. Turk said, "To secure the full rights and freedoms of people of African descent, States and all of us must effectively confront the legacies of enslavement and colonialism, dismantle systemic racism and deliver reparatory justice. We need bold action to deliver real change."

CBIEC continues to organize ongoing meetings with delegates to facilitate international and global partnerships and projects for 2025 and beyond.
